Bought my MDX in February 2002 at Gillman Acura, Houston, TX. Ordered the car in 2001. The dealership lost my initial order where I had specified all of the extras etc. that I wanted to add. Had to do everything over in January 2002. Didn't seem to care if I bought the car from them or their competition. No one could give me a delivery date. Everytime I called, I had to start over by telling my name, what model I wanted etc. Very disappointed.
Got my car finally in Feb. 2002. Very happy. Two weeks later, a Friday evening at 5.45 pm, my battery went out! Called the dealership, was told to come there in the morning, as they could not wait past 6 pm! That after I had paid sticker price and added a lot of stuff to my MDX! Got hold of the service manager, who made a technician wait for me. Was out of there around 6.15 pm.
In September 2002, my 4 wheel drive started to act strange. Drove a few yards on muddy ground, heard a loud clonking noice, and the whole car shook. It came back after a few more seconds and kept on repeating. Brought it in to the dealer. They drove it, found the same problem. They drove 3-4 more MDX they had on the lot and they all had the same problem! They contacted the Acura representative, he told them that this was the way it should be!!!
In July 2003, the transmission went out after 34,000 miles (slipped on the third gear). Was told there was a recall on my car and they were going to install new transmission. Got a crappy Jeep, thoroughly smoked in by previous renters, with poor air conditioning, that I had to drive for two weeks. At the time when I bought my MDX, was told that I would get an Acura as a loaner whenever needed.
Got the car back after two weeks.
A week later on, I was adjusting the inside rear view mirror when it suddenly - literally - fell into my hands. A cheap plastic component had broken (most likely deteriorated from sunlight). Went back to dealer who immediately replaced it after informing me that this was not the first time they had done this.
