I have been a long time employee of Terrace Gate. I have been on this site before and have read the stories regarding Terrace Gate. I am totally disgusted with how this store is run. My only source of releasing my frustration at work is this site (They can't fire an e-mail). Please understand that my stories are very true and there has been no stretching of the truth for any reason (no need they make themselves look pathetic!).

Sit back, read these stories / notes and think about where you DON'T want to purchase an Acura from (I personally have no problem with the vehicles).

1.       Every employee that has quit or been fired from Terrace Gate has had to fight for their final pay (If you work for the labor board check it out!). That would make it a total of 5 people who have had to chase after money they earned rightfully (Terrace Gate lost every battle with an employee).

2.      In Oct. of 2000 a couple had been in, looking at vehicles (used). The woman was disabled (needed total support to walk) and so her husband (I assume) had parked right at the front doors to make it easier for her to travel into the dealership. They had just started talking to a rep.  when "Chuckey Boy" (the DP) as his managers like to call him, came in and said very anal WHO'S VEHICLE IS THAT?  I WANT IT MOVED! Nobody could believe that this Dealer Principal (I wouldn’t call him that) was so very cold. He could see very well why this couple had parked there. If you have ever been there you would see at the front doors is ONLY for Chucky Boy to park in. It made no difference to him that: 1. the woman was disabled and 2. they are potential customers. All chucky boy cares about is how much money he made today.

3.      Charles Hitchmough a.k.a New car manager (YEAH RIGHT) he is the biggest scam artist there is. His first concern (and this is how he trains his rep.s) is to obtain a credit card from a potential customer and that way if they don't buy a car and if they don't know any better he'll be up $ 1,000.00. Just the other week he tried to rip off a young man who was interested in buying a new vehicle if he could be approved for credit. Charlie told him to put a deposit down ($ 1,000.00 - now remember, the customer is a student in college) and if he were not approved he would return the money right away (he never signed any bill of sale). Well, as it turned out he was not approved so he came to get his money back. Charlie had the gaul to be rude and say that it was too bad he's not getting the money back. The kid got upset and called his church to have Terrace Gate written up in their weekly newspaper. Eventually Charlie had to give back the money but why be a jerk?

4.      ………………………………

5. Charlie should remember that at one time he was a used car sales rep (Only 10 months ago) and if it were not for his best friend Dan MacQueen, the used car manager, he would still be a rep.

6. Our service department has dramatically dropped in sales (Wonder why?) because the service is terrible. The dealership is remaining open because of sales right now. The manager they had was terrible and the manager they have now is not bad - he is still learning. The first week or two he was there he gave a service loaner to a kid who should not have been driving the car because he was under our insurance age limit. The manager knew that the kid was under age but said to the advisor on duty - when he had made a remark about the age of the kid – that he thought he was old enough and so do you right (trying to be persuasive). What happens next is the kid gets into an accident. The service manager made him pay $3,000.00 cash to repair the damage to the vehicle. Why cash? Because if they had went through insurance they would not have been covered (the age thing) so they thought they would take a chance and hopefully the kid would not be smart enough to know the rules about rentals and insurance. Well needless to say he didn't because he is a kid (Where are the parents to speak up for this kid, I wondered).

7.      There are good rep.s there, but it’s the management’s need for greed that makes the rep.s look bad because they are the ones that have to speak to the customer, not the management.

8.      Employees on salary don't get sick days.

9.      Not ever has chuck said thank you to an employee or a customer.

10. Employees are treated like garbage and not with respect

11. The customers are treated like garbage and not with respect.

12. Management constantly makes fun of different ethnic backgrounds (i.e. the way a person talks - they really are babies)

13. HERE IS THE BEST PART: A few weeks ago we got word about an Acura dealership that will be opening in 2003 or 2004 in Markham. Terrace Gates customer base is 65% in Markham. We got a tip from an employee at Honda Canada that this dealership will then be shut down and all customer files will be sent to the Markham location.

14. At Dealer Principal meetings every other dealer pokes fun at Chuck Clayton as if they were in high school. He is the most disliked DP for all Acura dealerships because of his greed!

15. The used car manager has started buying cars in Montreal. If you know anything about cars you know you never buy a car from Quebec because they change the odometer, cut tires, been in accidents, etc. SO BEWARE! Do not buy a used car from there!!!

There are all kinds of rotten deeds being preformed there. I just don't have enough time to tell you it all. Hopefully this gets posted. Everyone has the right to know about bad business so that they can protect themselves. You don't have to believe anything I wrote. It could be looked upon as a disgruntled employee honestly in a way. YES that is true, but it is more about moral. I can’t say anything at work about what is going on or how I feel about situations occurring but I can do the right thing here and speak my mind and try to help people from entering a dealership that gives any Acura dealership a bad name. PLEASE AVOID (Terrace Gate) ACURA AT ANY COST OR IT WILL COST YOU!!!!
